Position Summary:

Biomerieux is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to join our team as Sr. Director, Accounting. This critical role works under the direction of the Sr. VP & CFO North America is responsible for overseeing and optimizing our transactional accounting procedures, analysis functions, and financial planning with a particular focus on commercial finance and operations finance in a high growth, fast paced environment. This position is responsible for leading the preparation, of the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process for the respective functional areas covered in the job description. This includes reconciliation and documentation of all accounts within scope. This director must exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and driving process improvements. This position is responsible for managing accounting functions related to treasury, cash forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, foreign exchange, travel and purchase card programs, prepaid expenses, general accruals, fixed assets, COFIS balance sheet reporting and statutory P&L reporting.

This position must possess a thorough knowledge of debits and credits and how they are transacted in an ERP system to create financial data with a clear understanding and implementation of setting in place best practices in accordance with GAAP and IFRS. This position may lead, direct, or assist with documenting and writing processes for business system implementations as well as internal documentation and process documents as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform all work in compliance with company policy, internal control manual, company procedures, and within the guidelines of the bioMérieux Diagnostics’ Quality System

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills with a focus on leading initiatives and developing team members.

  • Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data with forward looking approach to give internal customers appropriate information to make business decisions as well as provide guidance.

  • Ensures a compliant and sustainable internal control environment and follows corporate Biomerieux guidelines set

  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing, with continued development on monthly management performance reports for the company.

  • This position oversees the entire accounting life cycle from processes to journal entries to account reconciliations within financial statements.

  • Assists with external and internal audits as needed.

  • Prepare variance analysis for various accounts.

  • Review journal entries

  • Ensure Balance Sheet reconciliations are done properly and timely.

  • Review transactional practices in treasury, a/p, a/r, fixed assets, and other areas to ensure Biomerieux is following best in class practices and driving process improvements to gain efficiencies and reduce redundancies.

  • Ensure SOPS are in place for all procedures and tasks, while also adhering to company guidelines and principles.

  • Provides insurance and other reports required by governmental regulations.

  • Provides, reviews, analyzes and interprets financial and budgetary reports.

  • Directs all aspects of accounting operations and the preparation of related budget forecasts

  • Acts as a liaison between the company, government and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes

  • Prepares and develops accounting reports for budgets, statutory income and loss statements, balance sheets, and other reports

  • Identify opportunities to improve cash flow, strengthen balance sheet, cost containment, asset allocations.

  • Improve treasury and cash management activities, maximizing opportunities and decreasing risk.

  • Drive deeper analysis and support of a variety of business decisions through thoughtful and comprehensive economic and post-mortem analysis.

  • Experience in and manage enhancements to the Company's financial systems, including the implementation of an ERP system during 2024.

  • Ensure best in class practices around compliance and revenue recognition, including an operational foundation to support significant growth.

  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and appropriate compliance with applicable and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting, surface potential risk areas and drive mitigation.

  • Provide hands-on, metrics-driven financial leadership to help accelerate growth and provide the executive team with operational insight to better manage the business.

  • Continuously evaluate areas for process improvement and automation to support an efficient and scalable financial infrastructure

  • Key contributor and player in many ongoing projects the finance organization is spearheading or guiding such as the GO28 plan and SCALE project.

  • Performs other special projects or activities as assigned by CFO

    Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Master's degree with 10+ years leading diverse Accounting teams

  • Bachelor’s degree with 13 years related Accounting experience also accepted

  • CPA preferred

  • Proven experience in leading process improvements, developing team members, and ensuring internal controls are in place.

  • Fosters and has a history of implementing a change management philosophy

  • Able to keep up with a fast paced, complex organization

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate and influence.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Experience with a variety of ERP systems and overlays including SAP R/4 Hana

  • Prefer manufacturing accounting experience with a service based aspect

  • Prefer public accounting experience with public company client

  • May be required to travel 10-20 days out of the year
