BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Inventory Center Associate will perform various warehouse duties to deliver 1st in Class Service to our Customer Specific accounts.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures a safe working environment by keeping work areas orderly and clear of hazards.

  • Receive incoming product and packages via UPS and truck shipments.

  • Label and put-away inbound inventory to bin locations.

  • Performs bin maintenance and cycle counts as necessary to maintain RIC inventory accuracy.

  • Review vendor packaging and label bin location to help others identify Unit of Measure issues to prevent pulling errors.

  • Pull orders to support called in customer pick-ups, UPS and truck shipments.

  • Responsible for performing and completing the final preparation and consolidation of all packed orders and shipping by required method (UPS, UPS Hundredweight, LTL, RPS, Postal, etc.).

  • Process and input information in company-based computer system which include Freighting completed packages for UPS and truck shipments.

  • Operate basic warehouse vehicles. (i.e., electric pallet jack and/or forklift)

  • Submit verbal or email requests to supervisor to order supplies and product to ensure continued R.I.C. operations are maintained to service customer orders.

  • Complies with all shipping regulations and specifications.

  • Maintains a clean and safe RIC workplace.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent experience is required.

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic is required.

    SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of warehouse processes and procedures.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    Sitting, standing, walking, lifting materials (maximum 75 pounds – individual or team lift), carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, climbing using legs and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling, repeated bends, reaching high and low, and repetitive twisting or pressure, involving wrist and hands. Hearing, seeing (including depth perception and peripheral vision), ability of mental coordination. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for position. Must be able to operate at heights up to 50 feet. Mentally alert for entire shift.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

  • In order to meet customer service requirements, associates can be temporarily re-assigned to other warehouse functions.

  • Bending and lifting to move items that are at least 50 pounds.

  • Ability to operate at heights up to 50 feet high.

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
