Provide support for Valero's enterprise data management technologies as part of the Information Services (IS) Business Intelligence team.

Will work in close collaboration with team members, end users and other IS departments in a dynamic work environment to meet the changing support requirements, with minimal supervision.

Primary focus will be support work, but will also include the design and implementation of business intelligence projects.

Job Duties:

• Primary focus is to support business intelligence tools, systems and business users as a lead or individual contributor for small projects and/or enhancements to existing applications. This includes the use of Valero's system to track support activities.
• Participates in the design and implementation for business intelligence projects and/or enhancements as a lead or individual contributor, as required.
• Works on moderately complex tasks for the deployment of new solutions and enhancements/fixes to existing solutions. These include, but are not limited to: troubleshooting, problem-solving, issue resolution, user interaction, training, defining systems scope, gathering requirements, documenting design and technical specifications, research and fact-finding, configuration, testing, reporting, cutover, IS and business user coordination.
• Supports existing architecture for business analytics and reporting and coordinates with different departments to resolve issues based on defined priorities and escalates to leadership team in a timely manner.
• Works on regular scheduled or unscheduled house keeping activities in BI Tools like clean up of unused objects, monitoring periodically data growth, usage statistics etc. and report observations to supervisor to effectively maintain the platform.
• Handles day-to-day activities, such as assisting business users in developing new reports or enhancements following IS development standards and guidelines to ensure business continuity.
• Develops effective work relationships within departmental and functional lines at various job levels with business users, IS departments and Valero business partners.
• Learns or demonstrates an in-depth understanding of more than one business intelligence product/tool and associated integration.
• Helps coordinate the adoption of new business procedures resulting from system/application changes, including the development of system specifications, documentation, training, and communication plans.
• Performs analysis on and recommends complex quality solutions.
• Understands and applies the various IT methodologies which include project management, development, service management and system architecture.
• May be required to work off-hours and on weekends for projects and/or support.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Five (5) years of refining industry or business/IT experience.
• 5 years of technical experience in BI Tools: SAP BW and/or SAP HANA.
• 5 years of experience in one of the Reporting Tools: Business Objects, Analysis for Office, Power BI.
