Job Summary and Qualifications

  1. Oversees medical department committees to ensure that objectives are met and processes are revised as needed to meet the needs of both MHS and the Medical Staff.

  2. Works closely with the Medical Staff to trouble-shoot problems and gather input for improvement.

  3. Deals with confidential matters with a high degree of sensitivity and diplomacy.

  4. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.

  5. Understands and is committee to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.

  6. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools, or materials encompassed by job duties; must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.

  7. Adheres to MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues, and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations, or the Code of Conduct itself.

  8. The job responsibilities of the position may include cross training in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory operation of the department/work-unit or to permit flexible staffing assignments.

What qualifications you will need:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field and three (3) years increasingly responsible experience in hospital and/or healthcare credentialing;

or Associate’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field and five (5) years in the specific work area included in the essential functions of the job;

or Eight (8) years in the specific work area included in the essential functions of the job

Working knowledge of state and federal laws relating to due process and provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and TJC standards.

• Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and functions of medical staff.

• Advanced computer skills in word processing, spread sheets and databases.

Must have Hospital Medical Staff credentialing, Managed Care credentialing or Centralized Verification Organization (CVO) credentialing experience
