We are currently in search of a Warehouse Lead to help our managers guide our warehouse team in accomplishing their goal of creating Book Fairs of the highest quality for shipment to our local schools. SUMMARY

Serve as part of the team who builds and delivers Bookjoy as a Warehouse Lead. You are part of a dedicated team in an active environment where your daily activities of building a book fair include working safely, learning, demonstrating proficiency and meeting all productivity and quality requirement of your essential duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Expertise/Functional:

  • Demonstrates ability to lead warehouse team, ensuring maximum efficiency in both daily tasks as well as special projects within the branch.

  • May prepare daily associate work/task assignments and assist BM/WHS with production planning.

  • In conjunction with Branch Inventory Coordinator (BIC), monitor inventory levels of all product and materials to avoid out-of-stock situations.

  • Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead other employees.

  • Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, and quality standards for all work performed.

  • Follow all safety policies, processes, and procedures at all times.

  • Ensure work area is neat, clean, safe, and organized at all times.

  • May operate motorized pallet jacks upon successful completion of the SBF powered equipment program.

  • At any time may perform other duties or tasks associated with other position descriptions as part of individual and team development.

  • Plans and prioritize work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks.

  • Recording details of all work tasks performed accurately and completely.

Working with Tools & Technology

  • Demonstrates appropriate use of tools and technology to complete work functions according to process and procedures.

Leadership Initiative

  • Responsible for execution of all operational processes in support of BM/WHS

  • Demonstrates ability to perform supervisory tasks (excluding formal performance management) in temporary absence of warehouse supervisor/manager or during seasonal peaks when extended flex shifts are required.

  • Responsible for communicating problems/concerns to Warehouse management.

  • Ability to independently recognize, problem solve, and respond to issues per operational standards.

  • Share knowledge by training and mentoring peers on operations tasks.

  • Support BM/WHS to train, coach, mentor, and motivate warehouse team.

Interpersonal:

  • Maintain a professional and positive relationship with all co-workers and customers.

  • Maintain compliance with drug and alcohol-free policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate proficiency and effectiveness in Warehouse Associate 1 thru 4 functions and tasks.

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.

  • Strong team player and the ability to get along with co-workers.

  • Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Basic experience and familiarity with the fundamental capabilities of computers and communications systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift boxes that weigh up to 50 lbs., on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to lift boxes that weigh up to 30 lbs. to a height of 78” on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to push (move) wheeled cases, which may weigh in excess of 300 lbs. with an initial force of up to 50 lbs. and a sustained force of up to 30 lbs., on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to stand, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary to perform the job.

  • Must be able to tolerate work in a non-airconditioned environment, as well as endure exposure to heat, cold, noise, and dust while working around moving equipment.

  • Must be able to accurately follow specific instructions for multiple detailed assembly processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and finger to, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
