Northrop Grumman General Mission Module Technician-Field Technician 2 or Field Technician 3 in San Diego, California

We are looking for you to join our team as a General Mission Module Technician (Field Technician 2 or Field Technician 3) based out of San Diego, CA.

What you'll get to do:

Maintain and provide technical support for Mission Module (MM) equipment located at the Navy Base San Diego (NBSD, with some travel to other Navy bases and deployed sites worldwide.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and evaluates equipment relative to specified performance parameters

  • Performs hands-on scheduled maintenance on MM equipment

  • Performs hands-on corrective maintenance, to include fault isolation

  • Installs and removes MM equipment on US Navy ships

  • Provides logistics support; collaborates with customers/suppliers for technical and supply support

  • Supports the assigned SKED/Maintenance Planner with planned maintenance system (PMS) management and execution

  • Additional duties as designated by the Manager.

"This position may be filled as a Field Technician 2 or a Field Technician 3 based on the qualifications listed below."

Basic Qualifications for a Field Technician 2:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years related experience

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment required to conduct all repairs to include general hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches

  • Must have US Citizenship and at minimum possess an active Secret Clearance

  • Must be able to pass basic DOT physical exam to obtain forklift license and pass proficiency tests

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work, to include working in tight, restricted access spaces; must be able to climb 20 ft ladders and stand for long periods of time; must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% both CONUS (continental U.S.) and OCONUS (outside the continental U.S.)

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment required to conduct all repairs to include general hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches

  • Must be able to pass basic DOT physical exam to obtain forklift license and pass proficiency tests

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work, to include working in tight, restricted access spaces; must be able to climb 20 ft ladders and stand for long periods of time; must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% both CONUS (continental U.S.) and OCONUS (outside the continental U.S.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating and maintaining Gun Weapon Systems on US Navy/Coast Guard Vessels, and USMC/Army vehicles

  • Experience on LCS Class ships highly desired

  • Experience with Ship's Maintenance and Material Management (to include using the 3M system), Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance (MFOM)

  • Experience with 30mm guns on the LPD-17 Class, USMC Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) or similar chain guns is highly desired

  • Knowledge of Surface Warfare (SUW) and Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations and systems

  • Active Secret clearance

Salary Range: $53,000 - $88,300

Salary Range 2: $62,900 - $104,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
