About the role

The purpose of this position is to lead individual, multi-disciplined real estate project solutions for life sciences and healthcare clients in with direct accountability for project delivery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing project scope, schedule, and budget, managing design and construction, and serving as the project lead. Experience working with medical imaging, vivarium, clean rooms, cGMP, pharmaceutical, sustainability initiatives, and biotech R&D facilities/operations is highly desired.

This is onsite in San Diego, CA 5 days a week.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on design and construction strategies for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building management systems for life science and healthcare projects.

  • Lead all phases of the projects including planning, scheduling, budgeting, design, construction, owner test fits, and regulatory interaction with the support of the internal facilities team, corporate real estate, and other business stakeholders.

  • Lead projects focused on life science facilities such as biology, cell/gene therapy, and chemistry labs, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food science, vivarium, biocontainment, academic research, public health, and clinical labs.

  • Provide subject matter leadership on design and construction strategies for architectural and engineering systems on life science and healthcare projects.

  • Will build teams, integrate into existing teams, and lead projects of varying complexity.

  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and with the standard of care and quality expected of similar industry professionals.

  • Lead project teams through the decision-making process to deliver high-value, safe, responsive, sustainable, flexible, and robust facilities.

  • Develop requests for proposals, negotiate terms and conditions, contract development, and award project work.

  • Evaluates and administers contract documents to outside construction contractors, including approval for payment applications to the owner.

  • Utilizes broad industry experience to improve and/or introduce new business practices, policies, and procedures necessary to achieve organizational goals.

  • Takes initiative regarding risk management/mitigation and contingency planning with budget, scope, schedule, communications, or other matters as necessary to prevent negative impacts on the projects.

  • Capable of leading highly complex projects from inception through execution, and close-out.

  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced team members.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in design, engineering, or construction project management, 7 years preferred.

Preferred experience

  • Design/construction management for wet-lab research space, diagnostic testing laboratories, vivarium, and biopharma manufacturing facilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects during different phases

  • Experience with software MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and PowerPoint; Bluebeam and AutoCAD a plus.

CBRE Carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this [INSERT ROLE] position is $90,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $105,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
