We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in the heart of San Francisco, California. The Controller will play a key role in the growth of our company by leading the accounting, tax, and treasury functions of the company. In this role, you will partner with all aspects of the business to build and improve business and accounting processes, systems and controls while ensuring that core accounting functions are operating at a level appropriate for the stage of the Company. As the Controller, you’ll…

  • Lead all aspects of our corporate accounting functions including Billing, AP/AR, revenue, tax, treasury, financial reporting, and payroll

  • Manage all monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities; prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

  • Identify opportunities to improve internal accounting processes; propose and implement solutions

  • Lead the team through financial statement audits; manage relationship with auditors

  • Build, lead, support and develop a high-performing accounting team

  • Manage external stakeholders to address audit, banking, compliance, reporting, insurance and tax requirements

  • Work cross functionally with other leaders at company to scale and operationalize processes supporting our business growth

  • Work cross functionally with other leaders to challenge and optimize our billing, accounting & finance systems as part of scaling initiatives

  • Partner with Finance to create financial projections and budgets; analysis of results against budget

  • Develop a comprehensive set of control processes to mitigate financial risk and ensure accuracy of company records

    Requirements

What will you bring to this role…

  • CPA with 15+ years experience, including 10+ years in-house

  • Experience working with home grown , custom billing systems and partnering with engineers who work on those billing systems

  • Experience owning accounting policies and procedures for a growth-stage company

  • Experience leading a team through financial audits with Big 4 Audit firms

  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP

  • Ability to work cross-functionally to scale processes and support business needs

  • Proven people manager with a track record of building successful teams

  • Experience implementing and managing financial systems in a SaaS environment (e.g., billing, revenue recognition, ERP, AP, etc.)

  • Ability to both see the big picture and dive into the details

  • Experience adopting ASC 606 standard

  • A proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and to build strong working relationships

  • Strong analytical and Excel skills

  • Experience working through an IPO process a plus

  • Experience leading the Accounting function for a company with over $200M in annual revenue
