Emerson Payroll Operations Lead Analyst in San José, Costa Rica

In this capacity the Payroll Operations Lead will act as the expert with knowledge in all areas of the Oracle HCM application specifically the payroll and tax systems. The primary objective of the Payroll Operations Lead is to supervise and support the Payroll team and back up the Manager, Payroll Operations. The Lead role will work with all aspects of the payroll cycle from HRIS transactions to aligning priorities with Payroll, Tax, and Validation resources to ensure that Emerson is achieving the desired level of standardization of processes and setups across all Emerson Business Units, that production is effective and efficient, and that all Emerson Employees within the LATAM are paid correctly.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Liaison between HRIS Operations and Payroll Operations with Business Unit customers by interacting with HR, Finance, operations management, third party vendors, and employee customer population to understand their requirements and needs.

  • Provide direction, guidance and coaching to staff to ensure effective utilization of resources, achievement of objectives, and career development

  • Track and manage resolution of issues and risks critical to production and processes.

  • Manage the Payroll and Tax validation teams to ensure payroll tax processing and related activities comply with regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Develop, test, and implement remedies to fix production issues to meet changing business requirements.

  • Provide support for employee transfers across Emerson Business Units.

  • Organize and validate mass salary updates as requested by Business Units.

  • Promote an internal customer service orientation through development of customer service staff, effective policy development and administration, responsiveness to customer needs and appropriate communication.

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll payments to employees on the payroll, which includes multiple countries and multiple pay frequencies.

  • Support of new payroll implementations through the management of the HCM configurations migration to the production environment in partnership with Digital HCM Project Team

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered and help design solutions and audit reports.

  • Serve as the secondary contact for HCM and third-party administration for all related issues surrounding payroll operations.

  • Manage daily activities for Payroll & Tax validation teams in ensuring timeliness completion of reporting and filings to business groups and agencies.

  • Maintain expertise in the software tools/integrations that are used to manage and maintain accurate data processing.

  • Assist Payroll Operations Manager in the recommending, monitoring, and keeping controls surrounding the HCM related functions as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and/or the internal audit department.

  • Support to Payroll Operations Analyst for internal/external auditors to align resources and gather required documentation for audit validations.

  • Assist Payroll Operations manager with Year-End project plan and recurring task management

  • Monitor and regulate payroll tax updates for payroll system based on patching processes from Digital HCM Team

  • Ensure that the calculations of executive bonus checks and performance share payouts are completed timely and accurately.

  • Process balance adjustments for year-end reporting for cars, clubs, moving and relocations, incentive stock options, financial planning, tuition, gift certificates, etc.

  • Supports Payroll Operations Manager with tasks related to the project plan and execution of Year-End and Year-Begin activities, partnering with Digital HCM Services for successful processing of payments/taxes/reporting

  • Continually review departmental operating procedures to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Requires completion of a bachelor’s degree in a Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of five years of related work experience, preferably in a high volume, national payroll/finance environment to include an understanding of the employee life-cycle process.

  • Must be able to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and ten key by touch

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with multi-disciplines from the clerical level to senior management

  • Ability to show promptness and urgency in recognizing priority of tasks

  • Ability and willingness to accept change

  • Ability to function effectively in a rapid-paced environment

  • Must be able to think logically and creatively to resolve problems and prevent them from reoccurring

  • Must be detail-oriented and conscious of data confidentiality requirements

  • Ability to understand processes without every detail needing to be defined

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Advanced English
