Description We are on the hunt for a Controller to join our team in San Luis Obispo, California. This role is critical to our finance and accounting team, working closely with the Executive Management Team to provide accounting services to both our internal and external stakeholders. The role involves generating accurate monthly financial statements, reports, and reconciliations, playing a vital role in the annual budget and audit process, and maintaining internal controls.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and issue accurate monthly financial statements
• Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company programs, practices, and policies
• Assist with the preparation of budgets and coordinate the annual budget preparation by all departments
• Conduct detailed reviews of all balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely reconciliation and resolution of discrepancies
• Manage all aspects of the general ledger and financial reporting
• Monitor compliance within the agency procedures for safeguarding assets
• Manage all required tax filings and payments, including sales tax, fuel tax, payroll tax, and income tax
• Engage with external partners and stakeholders, including auditors, consultants, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies
• Manage the annual audit process from start to finish, ensuring minimal adjusted journal entries
• Provide financial training to staff, particularly in management and budgeting
• Assist in and ensure backup/cross-training of essential responsibilities. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required.
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services is essential.
• Knowledge and experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is necessary.
• Proficiency in ERP Solutions is crucial.
• Demonstrated understanding of Accounting Functions is required.
• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is necessary.
• Expertise in Auditing is needed.
• Experience in Budget Processes is essential.
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is necessary.
