A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Perform complex power system analysis on Distribution Network using the applications in ADMS e.g. Distribution Power Flow (DPF), Bus Load Allocation (BLA), Load Volt/Var Management (LVM) and Fault Location, Isolation & Service Restoration (FLISR).

  • Managing real-time operations of distribution power system model, this task typically include review substation oneline accuracy in ADMS, database and with other groups to fix oneline issues, review network topology on distribution circuits, and coordinate with GIS database team to correct data issues i.e. equipment not connected to grid.

  • Working with our ADMS vendor on software issues and coordinate the implementation of fixes in to ADMS production system.

  • Supporting ADMS R1 Project, this task typically includes running Acceptance Testing Procedure (ATP) to identify software issues and model validation.

  • Support ADMS R2 Project, this includes working on Short-Term Forecast Engine design & testing.

  • Support 24x7 on call duty rotations.

The essentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Scientific/Technical/Math field.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in engineering.

The preferred

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Experience performing distribution power flow analysis for electric utility company.

  • Programming experience with C , Java, Python, or PowerShell

  • Experience with maintaining real-time power system applications such as\: State Estimator, Distribution State Estimator, Real-time contingency analysis, Network Topology Processor.

  • Strong communication, ethics, negotiation, teamwork and optimally hand multiple assignments at once.

  • Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in State of California

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

  • This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule.

  • Relocation may apply to this position.

  • Successful candidate must be able to support 24x7 on call duty rotations.
