We are looking for world-class technical talent to join our Applied Materials Technical Infrastructure team. This is an onsite position at our R&D site in Santa Clara, CA.
Scope and Objectives:
The R&D Lab supports Applied Materials most advanced semiconductor machines including supporting equipment and facilities infrastructure.
The position is a Cleanroom Gas & Chemical Engineer
supporting tool installs, new factory upgrades, and site infrastructure. This includes pulling together new machine technical facility requirements, SOWs, cost analysis, quality parameters, projected durations, safety requirements, and resourcing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
This is a Cleanroom Gas & Chemical Engineer
position. This position is to provide technical leadership in the planning, design, configuration, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of Gas & Chemical distribution systems.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversee the operations, maintenance, and safety of Gas & Chemical distribution systems and to ensure maximum uptime.
Monitor 3rd party maintenance providers performance and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Coordinate with multiple groups (planning, construction, safety, G&C service provider, building owners, management, etc.) to meet project or service request requirement and minimize system downtime and business interruptions.
Respond to business interruptions or internal customer escalations.
Perform problem solving, troubleshooting, root cause analysis using 8D methodology.
Ensure that all Gas and Chemical distribution systems operate to design specifications.
Evaluate system capacities and capabilities and make improvement recommendations.
Forecast budget spending and review supplier invoices.
Identify and conceptually scope safety, compliance, capacity, redundancy, and cost savings projects.
Obtain funding and manage projects per scope, schedule & budget.
Review operation, maintenance, trouble shooting, project commissioning & acceptance, and other related documents for facilities systems; recommend and implement improvements.
Review and approve building construction, fit-up and tool hook-up designs.
Take various levels of responsibility for, and participation in the development of, project scope, budget, and schedule.
Provide technical direction to design engineers throughout the project conceptual design phase, interface with site user groups, other engineering disciplines, local municipalities and/or utilities, trade contractors, and other project stakeholders as required
Effectively interact with several internal engineering organizations to influence design standards, construction specifications, and operations requirements to ensure these enable construction to meet its Review and approve Chemical Authorization and MOC (method of changes)

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering
2-5 years of semiconductor or high purity hazardous gas facilities management experience; or equivalent experience of more than 7 years of facilities management
Additional qualifications include:
Working experience as a facilities engineer in semiconductor industry
Industrial gas and chemical delivery experience or equivalent
Working knowledge of gas distribution system and PLC based controls systems
Knowledge of local Fire, Building and Environmental codes
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of SPC, 8D, DMAIC, FMEA and other tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and CMMS (e.g.IBM Maximo)
Ability to work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger multi-functional team

U.S. Salary Range:
$120,000.00 - $165,000.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
