Hulu is an integral part of Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) organization, leading premium streaming service offerings for live and on-demand TV and movies. The Hulu Business Operations team is a highly dynamic group focused on tracking, evaluating and driving strategic business decisions as well as ensuring implementation and smooth operations through coordination with our business partners across the organization. Working very tightly with the Hulu General Manager and in lockstep with Hulu content teams we aggregate and elevate perspectives on high-priority strategic considerations, scope and execute analyses to inform goal setting and work cross-functionally across a wide range of partner teams such as Marketing, Product, Finance, Strategy, and Ad Sales to design and optimize workflows with an eye on Hulu-specific needs.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Analyst who will be an exceptional addition to our growing team. The role is focused on synthesizing data and insights across business partners to solve key business problems, develop end-to-end processes, craft the Hulu business narrative, and inform decisions by DTC leadership. The role requires attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, high EQ, collaboration skills, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have a background in management consulting, investment banking, or experience working in a strategy or business planning role within the media & entertainment and/or direct-to-consumer industry, loves to solve problems and is intellectually curious.

What You Will Do

  • Portfolio Analysis:

  • Become an expert in Hulu specific content and operations and conduct cross-platform audits as well as non-tech, pre launch quality control for new titles, incl. e.g. 1P and 3P partner obligations, ad experience optimization, and Hulu brand stewardship across the platform (to only name a few)

  • Build detailed financial models utilizing user data and forecasts to facilitate decision-making and optimization across the portfolio

  • Partner Operations:

  • Work effectively in a team environment, coordinating Hulu business needs cross-functionally with key partners incl. e.g. Marketing, Product and Ad Sales

  • Develop and implement guidelines and playbooks for complex operational workflows across the streaming value chain, constantly optimizing for Hulu-specific needs within the DTC ecosystem

  • See developed processes through to execution and their continued management with the appropriate operational teams, incl: Hulu content operations and partner management, engineering and QC, Hulu and Disney+ programming and Hulu/Disney+/Disney bundle marketing

  • Track and help project manage partner initiatives

  • Craft key presentation materials (e.g. memos, decks) and use storytelling skills (verbal and non-verbal) to persuasively communicate insights and recommendations

  • Strategic Insights:

  • Track business performance in collaboration with finance, analytics and research teams to aid goal setting and evaluation of potential opportunities within the Hulu portfolio

  • Structure complex and ambiguous operational / business issues and develop compelling, insightful recommendations

  • Develop deep dive analyses to determine growth strategies and work across DTC and partner BUs to build consensus and mobilize towards execution

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • BA/BS Degree

  • 3+ years of experience

  • Strong analytical and technical skills (e.g., financial modeling)

  • High standards for work quality, attention to detail, and accuracy

  • Ability to be solution-oriented: troubleshoot issues, analyze the cause, quickly come-up with the possible solution(s), document the changes, and communicate the change to the organization

  • Ability to think strategically, analyze and interpret market and consumer information

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills including the ability to synthesize and communicate highly complex and technical information

  • Demonstrated success in delivering results in a cross-functional or matrixed team setting

  • Innate emotional intelligence with a proven ability to perceive needs, issues, and preferences of others

  • Strong initiative and a willingness get things done with urgency and accuracy

  • A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with limited day-to-day guidance

  • Ability to manage multiple requests, stay organized, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient in GSuite and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the streaming media industry or knowledge of data and Video on Demand (VOD) and subscription-based services (SVOD) is preferred

  • A demonstrated interest in the media, digital and/or tech industries

  • Experience compiling and presenting detailed analysis to an executive audience is preferred

The hiring range for this position in California is $102,000.00-$136,700.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
