Role reports to: Sr Manager Trade Operations
Location: Sao Jose dos Campos
What you will do
The Trade Operations Specialist is responsible for reviewing and analyzing spend categories, identifying lowest cost sources of supply, conducting supplier performance reviews, and overseeing contract negotiations and implementation. They will also research and analyze benchmark information, develop logistics process design, and collaborate with business units in the strategic sourcing process:
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of trade operations and regulations.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate trade settlement.
Identify and resolve issues of Legal Entity project
Contribute to the development and implementation of new trade processes and procedures.
Provide training and support to junior team members.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all trade activities.
Monitor and analyze trade data to identify opportunities to project
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities in alignment with the lowest cost source of supply
Identify and evaluate key components for cost reduction and sourcing strategies
Provide in-depth spend analysis, supplier assessments, and financial perspective
Initiate requests for competitive bids and oversee contract negotiations and implementation
Conduct supplier performance reviews and audit dollars spent to ensure compliance to cost savings initiatives
Plan successful innovation initiatives with suppliers and facilitate successful innovation initiatives with suppliers
Research, analyze and provide benchmark information for assigned categories
Collaborate with designated business units in the administration of the strategic sourcing process
Control direction for sourcing goods and services and handle key and preferred supplier relationships
Manage projects/new programs when transitioning sources of supply
Develop and steer the roadmap for excellence in Trade compliance operations and processes
Direct accountability for developing and directing the priorities and roadmap for Trade Compliance operations
Support and provide input to the inbound distribution plans for New Product Introduction plans
Represent the company with local government agencies regarding compliance policies
Ensure effective integration of global trade compliance processes/standards
Drive process excellence to have seamless inbound import operations from sourcing site to DC
Proactively identify and mitigate risks to ensure business continuity
Acts as escalation point for operational issues at regional/market level
Define the right partner with Logistics Procurement team and manage contractual KPIs
Direct the performance management of transportation and customs broker partner
Coach, guide and develop talent
Identify capability gaps and define plans to address these gaps
Actively sponsor and mentor key TC talent
Manages/leads and influences without authority over extended teams
Provide leadership in support of a strong DE&I culture
Qualifications
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
At least 8 years of experience in Trade Compliance and Trade Operation roles in a multi-national company, minimum 3 years of which should be in a Specialist role
Strong understanding of trade regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and with very high attention to detail and data accuracy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Process oriented mindset and able to manage complexity and change
Track record in influencing a diverse range of stakeholders to shape a desired outcome
Customer oriented and a pro-active attitude
Strong business acumen and understanding of the end-to-end supply chain
Strong project management competencies and experience
Core Supply Chain Competencies specifically in Plan and Deliver functions
Financial acumen, understanding cost categorization within P&L
University/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
Desired Qualifications
Expert knowledge in customs regulations, including valuation, classification, and special trade programs – specific depth for assigned commodities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in project management
Strategic thinking ability
Demonstrated skill in influencing and collaboration within and across organizations
Experience in field warehousing and transportation management, including import/export logistics and managing 3PL relationships and performance
Relevant FMCG experience in a Regional SME or Consulting role
Knowledge of SAP and advanced Trade Compliance/GTOM automation tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other trade-related software.
