U.S. Army Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Supervisory Data Scientist in Scott AFB, Illinois

About the Position: The incumbent will advise the SES Director as Chief Analytics Officer (CAO) on DoD Data, Analytics, and AI Adoption Strategy, and relevant national policies, guiding application to SDDC, JDPAC, USTRANSCOM, COCOM, and DoD missions. Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of data science and advanced analytics capabilities to support key decisions and operations. Supervise and manage a multi-disciplinary team of data scientists, computer scientists, operations research analysts, engineers, and information systems specialists. Serve as the senior technical expert on data science methodologies, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data visualization techniques. Prepare and present briefings to senior officials to obtain approval. Design and conduct complex research and developmental assessments using advanced scientific, statistical, and predictive techniques. Develop roadmaps, strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency in data sourcing and analytics application. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities, including planning staffing needs, selecting candidates, and evaluating performance. Plan, organize, and execute strategic data analytic services to support DoD missions. Identify and address existing or potential areas of concern, trends, and comparable factors to enhance data program operations. Identify employee developmental needs and provide or arrange for training to maintain and improve job performance. Develop analytical and mathematical models for use in evaluation and testing sequences to solve problems and enhance performance. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Data Scientist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Designing and/or implementing complex statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and/or analytical tools to solve organizational problems; (2) Developing and/or implementing Federal regulations, policies, standards, and procedural guidance to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements ; (3) Designing and/or conducting complex research and developmental assessments using advanced scientific, statistical, and predictive techniques to solve high visibility critical issues; (4) Preparing detailed reports, documentation, and presentations for various audiences; and (5) Providing guidance to a team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, or staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
