Overview

Summary:

The Owner’s Project Director will be responsible for ensuring successful execution of a marquee utility-scale, standalone energy storage project located in the greater Phoenix area through final completion (Q1 2026). Depending on candidate’s preferences, this position can be offered as a single-project contract position or a salaried position with the expectation to lead successive projects for the company. The ideal candidate has been an Owner’s representative on a large power project before, “owns” project P&L, is willing to relocate to Phoenix (or live near Phoenix) to be onsite frequently during the construction period, has the subject matter expertise and business acumen necessary to manage a sophisticated EPC contractor, and has sufficient familiarity with other common project contracts to manage Owner’s obligations thereunder with the help of subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Onsite and offsite project representation of Owner’s interests with internal and external stakeholders • Project P&L / budget responsibility • Assist commercial and legal teams with negotiation of EPC, equipment purchase, O&M, lease, and asset management contracts • Coordination, contract administration, risk mitigation, and construction-period closeout of key project contracts (EPC, owner-supplied equipment, O&M, asset management, lease, offtake, & interconnection) • Management of key support staff, consultants, & advisors (e.g., subject matter experts, owner’s engineer, independent engineer, legal counsel, etc.) • Coordinate with Strata development, asset management, power marketing, financing, and other teams as necessary • Tracking, management, and reporting of project risks and KPIs • Interaction with AHJs and other local stakeholders • Assistance with hiring additional project staff as required • Support company continuous improvement activities

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, PMP, or equivalent experience in construction, engineering, or related fields • Prior experience as an Owner’s representative • 7+ years construction/power industry experience • Working knowledge of energy storage systems • Extensive understanding of EPC contract administration • Command of capital project execution fundamentals (safety, quality, schedule, budget, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and compliance) • Familiarity with non-EPC power project agreements (offtake, interconnection, lease, O&M, etc.) • Strong project management skills & ability to work with limited supervision • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail, and accountability • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite
