Meta Applied AI Research Scientist Lead, Generative AI in Seattle, Washington

Summary:

The Generative AI Org at Meta is seeking strong AI Research Scientists to join our team and work on the next generation of LLM. As a Research Scientist of our team, you will play a critical role in building Meta AI. We have the opportunity to help people everywhere get stuff done better and faster. This year we launched Meta AI in our chat apps and on Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, bringing our assistant to more people. We will continue investing here to improve usability and model quality, while also innovating in select new domains. We will be building an assistant that is social, more capable, more personal, and more ubiquitous. As an Applied Research Scientist in Generative AI, you have the opportunity to help push state of the art research, build industry leading foundation models, and bring them to products to impact billions of users.

Required Skills:

Applied AI Research Scientist Lead, Generative AI Responsibilities:

  1. Perform research to tackle unsolved real-world problems and push state of the art LLMs and assistants.

  2. Independently design and implement algorithms, train state of the large language models (LLM) on large data, and evaluate their performance.

  3. Drive applied research that can be applied to Meta product development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence, a related field.

  3. Research experience in one or more of these areas: NLP, speech, machine learning, deep learning, or related fields.

  4. 3+ years of experience with development and implementation of LLM algorithm/systems and model training.

  5. Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks.

  6. Experience working with machine learning libraries like Pytorch.

  7. Familiar with scripting languages such as Python and shell scripts.

  8. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

  1. Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research, and taking the solutions to production.

  2. First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).

  3. Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.

  4. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

Public Compensation:

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
