Blue Origin LLC Avionics Test Systems Engineer II in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. Responsibilities: Develop and own Tester Systems requirements, Tester comprehensive validation and verification strategy and plan, and it is components (tester racks, tester hardware and software, tester harness, tester load boxes, sensors and actuators, and other equipment) from requirements definition to design, build, integrate, verification and qualification test, and operation. Collaborate with Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) engineers to comprehensive validation and verification strategy and plans and to integrate Tester Systems. A key focus will be following best known systems engineering processes that will be used on a particular program in addition to establishing entry and exit criteria for gated reviews such as System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and Test Readiness Review (TRR). You will own the Tester Systems requirements and components (HW and SW) across the entire tester life cycle, from concept and requirements definition, design, analysis, prototyping, schematic capture, layout, design review, wiring diagram, build and integration, verification, and qualifications and through release to production testing for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Systems Integration Labs (SIL) and Automated Test Systems(ATS). Support Tester architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization and specification, and device selection. Support tester risk analyses, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies. Participate in program level technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives, and Tester Hardware development process improvements, work closely with key Engine and Vehicle Customers. Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or related disciplines 2+ years of Systems Engineering experience for electronic hardware and/or software systems, experience in design, development, test, and operation of Test Systems Hardware within the Aerospace industry or another similar safety critical industry. Ability to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle. Knowledge and experience of systems engineering practices per ARP4754A or similar standard. Familiarity with avionics hardware/electronics and/or software testing Experience with DO-330, DO-160, DO-178 and DO-254, NASA Software Engineering development programs. Experience with designing and/or developing complex testing environments. Experience leading complex verification and validation activities for systems. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
