The Opportunity with McKinstry We are adding a Building Performance Analyst with 5+ years of experience to our growingZero+Planning group in Seattle.Position responsibilities include: Technical Analyze and report onexisting buildingenergy performance; includes benchmarking, weather regression and other forms ofsavingstracking. Analyze utility usage patterns of facilities toestablisha baseline and track reductions due to the implementation of decarbonization measures. Work with multi-disciplinary project teams (architects, MEP engineers, general contractors, etc.) on new construction projects toestablishproject goals and help the team in achieving those goals. Work across the typical new construction design process (i.e.Concept Design to Construction Administration) todeliver onproject goals. Work with owners (see examples of clients below) of existing building portfolios to establish decarbonization goals andestablishpathways to achieving goals. Understand systems thatimpactbuilding energy usage and carbon emissions, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, renewables, and architectural. This is at the building, portfolio, and district level. Develop energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures at the building, portfolio, and district level.Assistinternal mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design teams in scoping measures. Perform whole building energy modeling via software such as IES VEfor new construction and existing buildings. Maintain energy models across the life of a project. Perform detailed building-level and district-level energy calculations using hourly spreadsheets and data analysis tools. Rank and prioritize decarbonization measures forownersand project teams, understanding their priorities and existing conditions.Provideinput on the impacts of different decarbonization strategies and/or design changes. Identify process improvement opportunities and develops innovative workflows to streamline modeling and analysis processes. Carefully review own work and work delegated to others. Possess a fully developed "sense" for when something doesn't seem right and initiate outreach for support and guidance. Documentation Communicate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences via graphical reporting and dynamic data visualization tools. Develop long-term decarbonization roadmaps for building, portfolio, and campus Owners toidentifypaths towardsachievingtheir long-term decarbonization goals. Develop compliance documentation for whole building energy modeling (e.g.Local Energy Code, LEED, Living Building Challenge, etc.). Coordination and Communication Work directly with clients, and sometimes lead discussions with the client, throughout the life of the project. This includes regular meetings, milestone presentations, andgeneral coordination. Coordinate across various internal groups at McKinstry, such as Technical Services, Energy,EcoDistricts, Renewables and Electric Vehicles.
