Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-level Environmental Geologist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for the Seattle, Washington Area. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a BS in Geology or Engineering with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects. Federal/Department of Defense experience is desired.

A minimum of 4 years experience with environmental investigations through site clean-up and closure. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work will be required, including travel and oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 50/50 split between office and field work.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with travel.

  • Candidates will be responsible for writing at least field observations, data collection, and field data interpretation sections of reports for which they collected the data. This will grow into data interpretation.

  • Project and task management, client interaction, proposal writing, cost estimating, remedial systems design, overseeing implementation/construction of remedial actions, technical report writing, and mentoring.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Geology or Engineering plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Must successfully pass preemployment background check

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Masters Degree in Geology or Engineering or related discipline.

  • 6+ years of experience within the consulting industry, demonstrating technical leadership in conducting remedial investigations and design.

  • Experienced with site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.

  • Licensed Geologist or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification (or eligible to complete upon hire)

  • Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.

  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.

  • Knowledgeable and experience working in the State of Washington and or State of Alaska including an understanding of the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) regulations, and or Alaska State Regulations.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

  • Able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

  • Proposal/cost estimate preparation

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $110,000.00.
