Sinclair Broadcast Group Lead Product Designer in Seattle, Washington

As a Lead Product Designer at Sinclair Digital, you will take a strategic and hands-on approach to designing compelling user experiences that drive engagement and business success. You will own the creative vision for your assigned product, ensuring a seamless, user-centric design process while fostering collaboration across product, engineering, and business teams. This role requires deep expertise in UX and visual design, prototyping, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to balance multiple workstreams efficiently. As a thought leader in design, you will be responsible for shaping the user experience across Sinclair Digital’s platforms while closely collaborating with others and driving innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead end-to-end design processes, from early discovery and ideation to validation through user research, product evaluations, and usability testing, with a focus on enhancing customer experience and identifying future opportunities.

  • Demonstrate expertise in layout, typography, and visual hierarchy to create intuitive and engaging designs.

  • Apply industry best practices and design principles to develop cohesive and innovative solutions across Sinclair Digital’s products.

  • Maintain, evolve, and advocate for scalable design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency across platforms.

  • Produce visually compelling and easily digestible designs that resonate with a diverse audience.

  • Identify, document, and promote new design patterns when deviating from existing frameworks to improve usability and engagement.

  • Implement scalable, reliable, and cost-effective design solutions that align with business and user needs.

  • Foster a culture of continuous feedback and iteration, encouraging collaboration and constructive critique.

  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.

  • Lead multiple strategic and tactical design initiatives, ensuring measurable business impact and alignment with company goals.

  • Manage project expectations, dependencies, and timelines to deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule.

  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define and execute a shared product vision that meets user needs and business objectives.

  • Provide design leadership across multiple teams, ensuring quality, cohesion, and adherence to best practices.

  • Advocate for process improvements, optimizing design workflows, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency.

  • Experience working in Jira and Atlassian Wiki (Confluence) to document processes, manage design tasks, create user stories, and collaborate within Agile workflows.

  • Stay informed on emerging trends in UX, visual design, and technology, proactively sharing insights and integrating relevant innovations into the design practice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 6+ years of experience in product/UX design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in UX, visual design, and interactive experiences.

  • Deep understanding of design principles, usability best practices, and accessibility standards.

  • Experience working across multiple platforms (web, mobile, connected TV) in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution.

  • Strong collaboration skills with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic. Can demonstrate leadership skills and collaboration across teams using a consultative approach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience leading end-to-end design for large-scale digital products.

  • Knowledge of front-end development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better collaborate with engineers.

  • Familiarity with design systems and component-based design methodologies.

  • Experience in research methodologies and usability testing.

  • Background in media, entertainment, or digital publishing is a plus

The base salary for this role is $139,000 to $149,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
