The Performance Nutrition Manager will work closely with Performance Nutrition Dietitians to deliver pre and post training fuel to athletes in the University of Washington Athletic Department. The position will be based out of the Performance Nutrition Center in the Graves Annex Building of the Athletic Department. The Performance Nutrition Manager will report directly to the Director of Performance Nutrition and be expected to perform the following as a shift-lead:

The Performance Nutrition Manager will work closely with Performance Nutrition Dietitians to deliver pre and post training fuel to athletes in the University of Washington Athletic Department. The position will be based out of the Performance Nutrition Center in the Graves Annex Building of the Athletic Department. The Performance Nutrition Manager will report directly to the Director of Performance Nutrition and be expected to perform the following as a shift-lead:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track inventory of food usage weekly in the Performance Nutrition Center. Monitor and stock inventory throughout fueling station shift. Place and receive weekly food orders.

  • Adhere to budget guidelines laid out by the Director of Performance Nutrition and track budget and spending throughout the course of the year (30%)

  • Manage sports nutrition volunteers, including scheduling and orientation for fueling station shifts, delegating tasks (25%)

  • Manage basketball locker room budget and ordering. Stock and maintain food-service standards of men’s and women’s basketball locker rooms (25%).

  • Manage and execute smoothie making (mainly training and tasking this to student volunteers) for post-training recovery (5%).

  • Interact with student athletes and be available to answer questions or direct the athletes to appropriate resources during their fueling station shift (5%)

  • Maintain a sanitary and clean environment for student athletes by following written food safety protocols (5%)

  • Other tasks as identified by the Performance Dietitians (5%).

  • Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University.The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee may be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain, a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment

  • Food service experience.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of the Performance Nutrition Department.

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while still paying attention to detail.

  • Possess strong time and priority management skills AND possess effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Practice safe food handling skills and obtain food handlers permit within 30 days of hire.

  • Be able to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Be reliable and dependable and accomplishing assigned tasks. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some academic coursework in nutrition.

  • A strong interest in the field of sports nutrition and sports management.

  • Those who are interested in becoming Registered Dietitians in the athletic setting and seeking resume-boosting experiences are highly encouraged.

  • Those with strong communication skills and a strong work ethic will excel in this role.

  • We are looking for someone who will be able to work autonomously and interact with athletes appropriately while providing guidelines in the Performance Nutrition Center.
