UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a PMO BUSINESS ANALYST 2 - GOVERNANCE position.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Responsible for working with Project Managers, Technical Analysts, and customers to ensure that the technical solutions implemented by ITS consistently meet the needs of our customers.

  • Develop and help implement strategic initiatives for improved efficiency and productivity.

  • Communicate responsibilities and expectations to project team members, manage daily work assignments; identify and manage issues, risks and decisions; and ensure quality deliverables and outcomes.

  • Conceptualize and communicate solutions to both business and IT partners, providing translation and connection between them but comfortable straddling both worlds.

  • Constructively question and influence thought partners across functional areas and end-user audiences due to the level of ambiguity and complexity of requirements.

  • Work with and across all staff, leadership, and executive levels to accomplish assignments.

  • Identify and manage organization-wide impacts to ensure alignment with enterprise strategic goals, influencing business policies and practices.

  • Create and drive adoption of new Business Analyst methodologies as appropriate. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You work with business users to define and document business cases for IT project requests, including clear definition of business needs, alignment to strategic objectives, benefits, and KPIs.

  • You support requirements meetings for large efforts, performing requirements analysis and developing/documenting/validating technical solutions. You will lead requirements meetings for smaller efforts.

  • You work with customers to understand their business needs and how emerging needs may impact established roadmaps.

  • You perform impact analyses when project change requests are initiated.

  • You perform cost/benefit analyses and business process re-engineering activities (workflow diagraming, gap analysis, etc.) where required.

  • You provide analytical services as needed for enhancement/maintenance projects.

  • You draw on collective knowledge of project management to diagnose problems, design effective solutions, and accelerate success.

  • You participate in feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders.

  • You develop and maintain tools, templates, standards, and reports to support Business Analyst functions.

  • You continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-oriented profession, a technology field, a business-related field, or other discipline that demonstrates analytical or communications abilities, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.

  • 3+ years of overall experience to include the below.

  • Executing progressively more complex business analyses within an information technology environment including scope definition, requirements gathering, performing cost/benefit analysis, business process re-engineering, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of research and analysis techniques, ideally including a mix of both quantitative and qualitative methods for understanding and documenting end-user and business owner requirements.

  • Defining and translating users’ requests into effective, functional/non-functional, and technical specifications and documentation.

  • Takes personal responsibility for meeting customer commitments and correcting customer problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to support and participate in cross-functional, cross organizational, work groups to implement projects or organizational changes.

  • Knowledge of various software development and service management methodologies/concepts (e.g. Agile, Kanban, ITIL, Waterfall).

  • Awareness of the industry standard Business Analyst best practices (e.g., IIBA BABOK).

  • Ability to apply financial concepts such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) in practice.

  • Experience developing traceability matrixes from requirements and/or assisting with user testing of a software solution. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
