Sonos Inc. Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, Audio in Seattle, Washington

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test working as a member of the Audio software team, you will be responsible for developing effective test plans as well as automating them across our family of audio products. This will require collaboration with your partners in development and test to ensure the high quality bar of our audio and voice features. You will work independently as well as with a team of industry leading innovators in other engineering fields such as acoustics, networking, application software, hardware, and user experience. This role is office-based This role can be done from our Boston, Santa Barbara, or Seattle offices with a hybrid working style of 3+ days in the office. What You'll Do Understand the end-to-end audio pipeline and how to test Collaborate with audio software teams to deliver features that are implemented, tested, and documented at the end of each sprint Deliver efficient and thorough automated testing Develop infrastructure for wireless testing of audio systems (e.g. synchronization and latency) Investigate and triage bugs to determine root cause and establish prioritization Shape test processes to ensure exceptional sound quality Mentor and guide the work of junior engineers Be a passionate advocate for software quality What You'll Need Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. Basic Qualifications B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Acoustic Engineering 5+ years of audio software test experience with strong background in DSP Solid understanding of audio test and measurement methods Solid understanding of time domain and frequency domain processing fundamentals Experience measuring latency stackups within an audio pipeline or processing times in software stack Experience with audio formats (e.g. Dolby Atmos, AAC, MP3, OGG, WAV) and metadata Proficient in Python Experience with Unix/Linux Preferred Qualifications Sound engineering or audio background Experience with GitHub and CI/CD Experience with Jenkins Loves music and is passionate about high quality sound Experience coordinating with external testing partners on certification and regression testing At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between: $152,000 and $168,800 Please note that compensation details listed in US job postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
