We are re-imagining the Lists experience on Amazon - making it simple, fun, and easy-to-use. We help customers turn impromptu shopping ideas into purchases through features like add and shop keywords where customers can add keywords to their Lists like “luxury espresso maker” and then find items related to their keywords to purchase. Finally, we make mobile shopping feel modern through intuitive gestures and mobile-first patterns. We also see massive opportunities to leverage Generative AI to surface personalized shopping lists to customers and help customize them.

This Software development position with Amazon Lists is a fit for someone who enjoys and thrives owning low latency, highly available stacks/services requiring strong problem-solving skills, has a solid computer science foundation, knowledge of backend design patterns, APIs and takes pride in operations excellence.

Successful candidates must also be innovative, flexible, self-directed, and able to design and write high-performance, reliable, maintainable code. This role requires the ability to creatively deal with ambiguity, be data-driven and juggle cross-organization complexity. Key job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.

  • Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.

  • Deliver customer value in an iterative fashion while working towards longer term systems goals.

  • Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.

  • Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.

  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

About the team

Amazon List Services vends business logic & storage as a service. Our services are leveraged by clients to support Lists, Registries, Alexa and List-like experiences across Amazon CDO and subsidiaries.

Lists Services team supports 16+ businesses and 60+ clients across Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
