Amazon Appstore Policy team is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented policy manager for our global program focusing on policy governance and enforcement, consistency and scalability within Amazon.

Devices are becoming increasingly sophisticated , and they are enabling customers to access content, applications, and services anywhere. This team researches, recommends, and develops the policies that govern, which apps are available from Amazon's global Appstore.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr Program Manager will work closely with Amazon leadership to set the long-term vision to support a trusted and safe environment for our customers, assess risk, and manage the consistent and accurate enforcement of our appstore policies worldwide. In this role you will continuously evaluate Appstore policies and standards, policy governance, enforcement, and escalation processes. You will be the voice of our policies and standards for developers, and internal customers, to ensure a broad understanding of the intent, philosophy, and customer obsession behind the policy decisions we make. You will work closely with our product, operations and engineering teams to improve policy mechanisms, analyze data to prioritize tool improvements, and help set the vision for automated review to enable policy governance at scale. You will lead a small team of policy program managers.

As a Sr Program Manager, you will own Appstore Policy and work with globally-based teams to make things happen. You will deliver results when faced with ambiguous circumstances and roadblocks. Your judgment and intuition are right, a lot, and you know when to ask the right questions. We start with the customer and work backwards in everything we do.

• Develop policies that protect Amazon, our customers, and developers

• Build escalation tools and handle policy escalations from developers, business development teams, PR, and other internal stakeholders

• Prepare and deliver business reviews to executive leadership and business team regarding program/project progress and roadblocks

• Define program and organization wide metrics and ambitious goals

• Partner and influence product and engineering teams to drive solutions that scale and accurately enforce our policies

• Make balanced decisions content moderation questions

• Develop policies and governance frameworks to identify and resolve escalation scenarios

• Hire and develop a small team of policy program managers

We are looking for an energetic Sr Program Manager to come and lead some of the key initiatives within Appstore Policy. This is a strategic role to shape and deliver our vision in developing and delivering global program focusing on Appstore policy governance

About the team

EDS (Entertainment, Devices and Services) org’s mission is help hundreds of millions of people around the world relax, be entertained, and make their lives easier. The policy governance team works with the policy enforcement (tablets & fire tv) operationalizing, optimizing and improving execution frameworks for processes and technologies.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience defining and executing program requirements

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
