TEKsystems Workday Integration Engineer in Seattle, Washington

Description:

This position resides in the Data Integrations unit within D&A. This unit provides and operates point-to-point integrations between Enterprise and other systems, thus enabling data to flow between Enterprise and other systems. Data Integrations is responsible for the creation and ongoing operation of these integrations, from initial requirements discovery through retirement.

The Integration Engineer fulfills a key role in supporting the University’s enterprise-wide Human Resources. Payroll, and Finance system (Workday). This position designs, implements, operates, supports, and maintains integrations between Workday and internal and external UW information systems to achieve the customer's quality and business objectives for Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance.

This position has responsibility to contribute toward ongoing implementations of a large number of integrations with Workday's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) system as well as support those in production. These integrations involve many different systems across a diverse range of internal and external partners. This position translates HR/Payroll/Finance requirements into Workday integrations. The Integration Engineer designs, develops, and maintains existing and new interfaces into and out of Workday. This position develops solutions using a standard, quality-driven approach. This position identifies and communicates gaps or trade-offs in designs across technical and non-technical audiences using effective communication skills. The Integration Engineer participates in recommending the most effective and efficient integration design architecture. This position also supports, troubleshoots and documents integration issues as they arise with the goal of maintaining a stable and robust Workday system.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties & Responsibilities: (Identify the percent time spent on each major duty, listed in decreasing order of importance. The total job duties must equal 100% regardless of position’s % FTE. )

(35%) Building and Testing of Integrations. This position builds Workday HR / Payroll integrations. This includes:

• Becoming knowledgeable on the integration configuration for common and advanced solutions within the Workday development and configuration environment.

• Influencing the decision-making process for configuring and developing integration solutions considering short and long term goals.

• Utilizing a version control process and toolset for managing development, enhancements and migration of Workday integrations across tenants.

• Contributing to development of a regression test capability for validating cloud-based integrations during business process configuration changes or Workday upgrades.

• Pairing and sharing knowledge with other integration engineers.

(35%) Support, Maintenance, Troubleshooting. This position provides Tier 2 support for integration issues for both internal and external systems. This includes:

• Participating in monitoring, response and root-cause-analysis for emergent issues.

• Providing subject matter expertise to the ISC for integration related issues.

• Monitoring overall health of Workday integrations.

• Tracking internal and external vendor changes and maintaining documentation to reflect current state.

• Improving performance, error handling, and monitoring of integrations.

• Working with various support tools to monitor and enhance integrations like Service Now, and Kainos.

(20%) Integrations Strategy, Analysis and Design. This position contributes to architecture strategy, analysis and design for delivery of integrations. This includes:

• Analyzing business requirements for HR / Payroll integrations to/from other systems and translating these into Workday integrations.

• Discussing integration solutions with technical experts of downstream systems.

• Communicating the process of design, build, test and deployment of the integrations.

• Providing design support for system owners as they assess the impact on their systems.

• Creating integration design documents.

• Contributing content towards having an accurate record of all design decisions.

• Ensuring the integrations are configured following vendor guidelines and according to the requirements in design documents.

• Reviewing and contributing to the overall testing strategy and plan.

• Participating in the design and running of end-to-end tests of the system.

• Assessing, influencing and providing solutions to issues that arise with integrations during testing.

• Enhancing existing integrations to the needs of new and revised requirements

(10%) Communication

• Identify and articulate issues for escalation.

• Alert integration supervisor when change requests are necessary to achieve outcomes of integration solutions. 

• Collaborate and communicate across organizational units.
