Jamestown Point Whitney Shellfish FLUPSY Technician in Sequim, Washington
The Jamestown Point Whitney Shellfish venture is seeking a passionate FLUPSY Technician to play a key role in raising healthy shellfish!
What you'll do:
- Maintain and care for our FLUPSY systems, ensuring optimal growing conditions for our shellfish
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment by keeping shellfish bins and FLUPSY structures spotless
- Become a sorting expert by separating shellfish by size and species
- Track inventory meticulously to maintain accurate records
- Facilitate oyster seed sales and connect with future shellfish farmers

- Previous experience working in an outdoor environment, especially on the water
- A background in systems maintenance
- Skills in construction, electrical work, or plumbing (a plus!)

What are the Physical Requirements and Working Conditions for this position?
- Ability and willingness to endure harsh field conditions, work outside and on marine waters in various weather conditions, through all seasons
- Must be able to swim
- Must be available to work any shift (to include all hours, weekends, and/or holidays as job duties require)
- Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Physical ability to access all areas of the property applicable to your position
- Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting and twisting without restriction
- Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols; and ability to grasp and apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
- Must have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basis
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with customers, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
