Summary

As the Composites Stress Engineer, you will provide dedicated support to the UK composites team involved in the development and manufacture of complex composite aerostructures. Working under the direction of the R&D Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of analysis and reporting activities including to support new and in-service products.

Responsibilities

  • Stress analysis of composite components using FEA software Hyperworks , NASTRAN / PATRAN or ANSYS.

  • Knowledge of aerospace stressing methodologies for metallic and composite components and report writing.

  • Technical liaison/presentations with customer to support Design Review deliverables.

  • Perform value analysis during the product design phase while optimising product development costs.

  • Provide technical support for new projects and evaluate the requirements.

  • Maintain project files and appropriate records of work.

  • Reduces costs and improves mechanical design and development processes, using best practices and professional knowledge.

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role you will have a proven experience in the stress analysis of composite structures and have knowledge of aerospace stressing methodologies for metallic and composite structures.

    Preferred additional experience:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques for fibre reinforced plastic and thermoplastic materials.

  • Experience of dynamic/non-linear stress analysis.

  • Proficient in the use of CATIA V5.

  • Familiar with military & civil certification requirements for primary aerospace structures.

  • Experience in F&DT analysis of metallic and composite structures.

  • The generation of detailed manufacturing drawings.
