Kanaan Communications, LLC Foreman Telecom Aerial in Sherwood, Oregon
The Foreman is responsible for completion of aerial construction related activities while ensuring compliance with all code and safety regulations. Successful Aerial Foreman candidate must have knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques including the placement of poles and anchors, familiarity with a wide range of tools and equipment, ability to read and understand prints/maps, safety rules, and operating instructions.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Work with crew to ensure that all construction operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications
Ensure highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld
Instruct and follow of all OSHA and Company Fall Safety procedures
Responsible as the crew leader for proper, accurate and timely submission of dailies and production reports
Work with crew to install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
Safely use hand tools and equipment such as; wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more.
Safely operate mechanized equipment such as; bucket trucks, digger derrick, excavators, and more.
Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
Flagging traffic when required
Understanding of separation and clearance regulations
Ability to safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders.
Flexibility to work in multiple locations
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (include but are not limited to):
1-3 years prior experience in construction, cable, telecommunications or related industries; leadership experience preferred
Able to perform the physical tasks required in this position for the entire assigned shift.
Ability to operate various types of trucks and equipment
Drive and/or operate diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on jobsite (CDL preferred)
Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations and policies
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc. in the accomplishments of North Sky’s goals
Essential Physical Requirements include:
Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
Repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder
Work in congested or remote areas
Work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time
Must be able to work in small/sometimes confined areas
Must be able to work in variable heights/depths
Must be able to lift/carry up to 50+ pounds
Reach, bend and stoop while performing work
Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
Work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat
Work in extreme weather conditions depending on geographical location (below freezing to over 100 degrees and in very windy conditions)
Hours/Schedules are determined based on Region and Customer Needs and in compliance with any regulations; on average – must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. Weekend work/Overtime is dependent on Work Load. Some travel may be required.
