Minimum Qualifications
The Assistant Manager supporting STACKS Coffee Shop and The Port Grille Catering performs a variety of food service activities such as preparation and service of food and drink items to customers, maintaining food products and supplies, ensuring proper maintenance of equipment, and directing and training student workers in methods and procedures of a drink/food facility. The Assistant Manager must demonstrate skills in customer service and knowledge of making food and drinks. He/she will work with student baristas to promptly provide customers with high quality products.
Duties and Responsibilities
Train students in the methods and procedures of preparing drinks according to the approved measurements.
Use the POS system daily and be able to trouble shoot issues.
Ensure opening and closing procedures of the store are followed.
Run cash out reports and count the drawer at the end of the day.
Report to work on time and inform supervisor promptly of any appointments that may interfere with daily duties.
Make and serve drinks, along with other food items offered by STACKS.
Ensure that the items being served are consistent.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and hygienic work environment while conducting routine cleaning and sanitation tasks.
Ensure proper temperatures are maintained on all prepacked foods.
Properly handle, store, rotate and dispose of food items in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Assist in managing inventory levels and ordering supplies as necessary.
Conduct regular inventory checks to minimize waste and ensure adequate stock levels.
Ensure that catered menu items are ready for distribution at prearranged times.
Schedule students according to workload to ensure there are no unattended hours during operations.
Inform supervisor of when specialty items such as items prepared by The Port Grille Catering are running low.
Give a daily report at the end of shift of specialty items by email to the supervisor.
May work with The Port Grille Catering on upon request.
Supervision
Employees in this class receive general supervision from a supervisor who assigns work verbally or through written instructions. Work is reviewed by observation on a daily basis to ensure work standards and procedures are followed, to check for adequate staffing, and to ensure conformance with safety and sanitation procedures. Employees are to follow State health, safety, and sanitation regulations pertaining to food service facilities. Work schedules and standardized menus/recipes are followed to prepare simple menu items and specials scheduled for that day. Food service policies and procedures are also used as guidelines when performing the work. Any disruptions are to be reported as soon as possible to the supervisor.
Qualifications
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the food service industry.
Knowledge of food and drink preparation and service.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation standards.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
