Role Description: The President/CEO is responsible to ensure the effective operation and strategic initiatives of the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce. This leadership position shall oversee organizational activities including programs, membership, employment, staff supervision and training, community awareness of business and governmental agencies, and fiscal responsibilities. General Outline of Responsibilities**

  1. Program of Work
    • Through the collaboration of committees, is responsible to act as a visionary role in the identification of long-range planning needs of the chamber and community with the preparation of a program designed to meet these needs. Shall provide recommendations of continuous improvement processes focusing on the attainment of program and community goals.
  2. Chamber Structure, Policy and Procedure Development
    • Provide leadership to ensure that the Chamber functions with maximum efficiency. As established by the Board of Directors, assist committees, members, and staff in the interpretation of policy that will promote the vision and mission of the Chamber. Identify and recommend solutions to challenges that face the Chamber and community.
  3. Volunteers
    • Recruit, motivate, and organize effective utilization of volunteers within Chambers community activities.
  4. Finances
    • Coordinate with the Finance Committee to develop and present to the Board of Directors an annual operating and capital budget. Ensure proper administration and approval of all expenditures within the framework of the budget. Monitor the preparation and accuracy of financial report statements and records presented to the Board.

``` 5. Membership - Responsible for recruitment of new and retention of current members, while meeting budget goals. Involve Board, members, staff, and volunteers in annual Membership Campaigns.

``` 1. With the Board of Directors - Effectively communicate Chamber activities and events. Is responsible to create meeting agendas and maintain organization records. Ensure that the Chamber policy as established by the Board is properly recorded and documented in the policy manual. Assist the Board in preparation of statements of Chamber position on public issues. Review and evaluate legislation which will impact the Chamber's goals and policies and discuss action with committees and Board for study and future action. Attend and participate as needed or requested by Committee Chairperson to ensure budget goals and member recruitment and retention goals are met. 2. With Chamber Members - Motivate members to support personal and financial commitment to the organization's activities and events. Analyze and interpret the needs of members and recommend revisions in programs to improve services and assist with adding value to Chamber membership. Assist members to create proposals translating concepts into action plans that will promote organizational goals. Exhibit a strong customer service focus to ensure membership retention, growth, and development. 3. City/County - Actively networks and collaborate with public officials, business leaders and media to create and strengthen strategic alliances and partnerships. Provide quarterly reports to City and annually to County Commissions to meet contractual obligations. 4. Community- Represent the Chamber at professional and community led meetings, serving as liaison. Utilizes effective communication skills to counsel and advise on development of programs and activities affecting the business community. 5. Staff - Responsible for effective recruitment and retention programs. Manages and directs the work of Chamber employees, including employment decisions, training, and performance evaluations of employees. 6. Facilities - Manage the facilities to ma ntain a professional image for members, customers, and other guests.
