Sensata Technologies, Inc. Mechanization Assembly Team Manager in Sofia, Bulgaria

The Group Supervisor is responsible for overall management direction for assigned group.

General Responsibilities

  • Supervise the actions of their team members' assignments and projects

  • Ensure employees meet their goals and deliverable deadlines

  • Assist in employee recruitment and performance evaluation activities of staff

  • Responsible for fostering positive relationships with the staff and customer base

  • Assists with the creation of the group’s annual budget

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.

Job Description Summary

The Mechanization Assembly Team Manager is responsible for managing a team of technicians and engineers while also contributing at an individual level. The position supports internal company needs for new and existing equipment ranging from, assembly, inspection, calibration, and testing for global manufacturing sites. A successful candidate has a demonstrated history of building automation equipment for high-volume production lines from concept to installation and leading other technicians or engineers to do the same. Responsibilities are split approximately 50/50 between management and involvement in equipment build.

General Responsibilities

  • Establish and accurately communicate project milestones, resources, deliverables, budgets, and schedules to internal team and project stakeholders. Ensure cost and schedule commitments are satisfied.

  • Ensure team member work satisfies objectives. Organize, lead, and provide feedback and guidance during projects reviews. Mentor less experienced team members.

  • Identify challenges facing direct reports and take steps to mitigate risks to the project.

  • Actively participate in meetings with the product and process design engineers, outside suppliers, and customers. Set expectations and steer projects to ensure they are successfully executed.

  • Work in a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting various equipment-related needs for new equipment and upgrades/maintenance on existing equipment.

  • Use engineering principles and creative, innovative problem-solving to make sound decisions on complex technical issues. Provide technical and professional guidance to help others do the same.

  • Quickly learn new processes, programs, and skills to solve cutting-edge engineering problems.

  • Help draft and review equipment specifications to define the scope of a project.

  • Work with functional managers and project managers to execute the equipment assembly and debug in accordance with Sensata standards.

  • Respond to purchase approvals, emails, and other administrative requests in a timely manner.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 5-8 years of building or automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment.

  • At least 2 years managing a team of technicians or engineers.

  • Proficient in using Solidworks for mechanical design and Solidworks Electrical.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, including material selection, mechanics, magnetics, fluid, and thermal dynamics, actuators, GD&T, and drafting.

  • Knowledge of robotics, automated inspection, pneumatics, component feeders, thermal control systems, and various manufacturing processes such as resistance welding, laser welding, crimping, soldering, dispensing, and press fitting.

  • Familiarity with electrical panel design, PLC programming, and machine control software are a plus to effectively work with those groups.

  • Demonstrated history of setting ambitious yet achievable goals and leading team to completion.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing tasks when problems aren’t fully defined.

  • Strong written, oral communication skills. Strong presentation skills.
