Fortive Corporation Test Engineer in Solon, Ohio

Purpose:

Responsible for performing duties to create automated manufacturing test process that will evaluate products to their specifications and intended functionality. This includes board level test and final instrument calibration.

This is an office-based role in Solon, Ohio

Leadership:

  • Contribute as a technical leader in specific areas based on existing or acquired skills.

  • Work more independently from the group manager and play key role on project team.

  • Provide technical supervision and direction to lower-level engineers and technicians.

  • Understand key corporate initiatives and work with the manager to motivate others.

  • Take a key role in implementing and/or supporting innovative programs, processes, or technologies.

Planning and Organizing

  • Develop test engineering strategies, plans and requirements based off key marketing and

  • engineering information.

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Engineering to set specifications, project goals, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Develop project schedules and handles meeting the established timelines.

  • Monitor project status and support a flow of information to the group manager and project manager.

Skills and Applied Knowledge

  • Create automated test programs in NI LabVIEW and TestStand, with occasional use of VB.NET, C++, Python, and Lua

  • Complete measurement uncertainty analysis in conformance to the U.S Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM).

  • Solve complex problems in creative and practical ways, including using statistical analysis tools and techniques.

  • Maintain current knowledge of proper tools, techniques, and competitive products through literature and other means.

  • Build technical depth through the balance of theory and practical application.

  • Find areas for process optimization and efficiency enhancement within the test engineering workflow.

  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance testing effectiveness.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.

  • 3 years of Manufacturing Test Engineering experience.

  • Ability in creating automated test programs in NI LabVIEW and TestStand.
