Assistant Director of the Miller Worley Center for Environment Position Type: Staff Full-time Hours per week: 37.5 Weeks per year: Full Time-52 Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Department Summary & Job Purpose: The College?s Plan for Mount Holyoke 2023 identifies environmental sustainability as a strategic priority. In January 2018, the Board of Trustees of Mount Holyoke College endorsed the overarching goals of the College\'s recent 2017 Sustainability Task Force recommendations, including the goal of becoming a carbon-neutral campus by 2037, its bicentennial. The College has defined a sustainability vision and approach to support the strategic priorities for Mount Holyoke College that is inclusive and progressive. To date, we have made significant progress towards these goals, including transitioning from coal fire heating to ground source heat exchange, retrofitting buildings for energy efficiency, reducing single-use items in our dining facilities, and improving upon campus composting. Other priority areas for the college include climate justice, instilling sustainability as a core value across campus, and elevating the use of the Campus Living Laboratory. With an emphasis on community building and communication, the Assistant Director reports directly to Leslie and Sarah Miller, Director of the Miller Worley Center for the Environment (MWCE). The Assistant Director coordinates with departments across campus to support student environmental leadership and effective programming. Specifically, the Assistant Director works with other Center staff to help plan, design, implement, and communicate Center activities, including the Center\'s student work positions. The Assistant Director also represents the Center to internal and external stakeholders and community members at the behest of the Center Director. Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Serves as the primary point person for MWCE student engagement and outreach. - Oversees the MWCE student work program and the Community Sustainability Coordinators/Assistants (CSCs & CSAs), including hiring and training, supervising, timecard approval, budget development, identifying opportunities for professional development, and conducting annual employee evaluations. - Develops educational marketing and communications, including maintaining social media pages with the CSCs & CSAs, contributes to creating program fliers and announcements, and works with campus Background Checks: At Mount Holyoke College, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our community members. Our Office of Human Resources manages and conducts these checks, including screenings for CORI, SORI, credit history, and driver credentials.
