International Tax Manager

OVERVIEW

The International Tax Manager is responsible for managing Suns U.S. international tax function, largely managing the US GAAP tax provision and tax compliance process for international tax-related activities. The responsibilities encompass global tax administration, including compliance, tax-related financial reporting, corporate tax policy, planning, transfer pricing, and advising.

JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for the US GAAP foreign income tax provision process by coordinating internal and external US and non-US teams and reporting with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Responsible for the US and foreign tax return filing process by managing internal and external US and non-US resources.

  • Ensures Sun is compliant with all international tax laws and regulations.

  • Prepares non-US income tax provision budgets.

  • Analyzes the tax effects of foreign operations, including but not limited to GILTI, BEAT, and Subpart F.

  • Reviews and/or prepares transaction related tax elections, such as 338(g) elections, check the box and TRS.

  • Ensures all US and non-US tax filings related to foreign operations are complete, accurate and filed timely.

  • Reviews foreign tax provision documents prepared by consultants for all non-US locations and ensure that are properly reflected in our US GAAP filings.

  • Prepares tax-related provision memos and footnotes.

  • Reviews transactions to determine withholding tax requirements.

  • Leads US and non-US tax audits of foreign operations by communicating with auditors, providing proper documentation and resolving audit issues.

  • Responsible for legislative developments and their impact on our tax planning, filings and provision.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the companys transfer price policies, domestic and foreign intercompany transactions, such as leases, loans and cost allocations.

  • Assists with federal tax return preparation and or review.

  • Reviews and/or prepares US tax compliance filings of foreign operations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting (Required)

  • 5 years experience in a complex company or at a Big 4 accounting firm advising global businesses

  • 3 years experience in public accounting

  • Graduate or undergraduate training in taxation (Preferred)

  • Familiarity with tax laws and tax administration of key European jurisdictions

  • Experience in U.S. international outbound issues, e.g., GILTI, BEAT, foreign tax credits and Subpart F

  • Experience in U.S. international tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax legislation analysis, international aspects of tax provision and U.S. and foreign tax audits

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work closely alongside Tax and non-Tax colleagues

  • Strong leadership skills, an excellent ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders, exceptional judgment and technical capability, and proven professionalism

  • Quick learner, capable of managing increasing levels of complexity and uncertainty

  • Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to complete complex analysis and steward updates with timeliness and precision

  • Knowledge of approaches and tools for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to alternative scenarios with understanding of stakeholder perspectives
