Job Summary

Advanced visual storyteller for conceptual scenarios and future user experiences with the HP Design Team. Bring Design Fictions and future concepts to life by creating supporting visuals, narratives, and representations in various formats. Additional components to the role are research of upcoming technologies, behaviors, and other such signals, with a focus on generative Ai imagery, along with prototyping workflows for image creation. The role should exhibit creative and unique approaches to Ai tools that stretch the imagination and test the limitations of conventional storytelling. Ideally, being able to also weave these experimental approaches with conventional storytelling.

This is for a full-time, hybrid/onsite role - located in HP Design studio in either (Spring, TX or Palo Alto, CA).

Responsibilities

  • Create and curate visuals into storyboards for early development of concepts.

  • Develop visually appealing and easy-to-understand presentations for internal design teams, leadership, and C-suite executives, tailored to their unique strategic needs and communication styles.

  • Bridging the unknown, often unbelievable, possibilities of the future in ways that allow key stakeholders today to see themselves in said futures.

  • Exhibit visual stories through various media depending on specific use cases (still images, short animation, full motion)

  • Work closely with internal design teams including but not limited to Design leadership, New Initiatives, CG, CMF and Industrial Design.

  • Collaborate with advanced concepts team to visualize untold stories about future of design.

  • Participate in research practices for forecasting, prototyping and execution of new experiences.

  • Explore and consider new workflows using emerging Ai technologies.

  • Collaborate with various UX/UI & engineering teams to uncover future opportunities (product features, user experiences).

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Design, Communications, HCI, Illustration, Art, or parallel creative degree.

  • Typically has 10+ years of work experience in the creative field. Mindset & Approach

  • Works well in ambiguous, dynamic environments as technology, and requests evolve.

  • Finds themselves constantly thinking about the future - and can easily step into said futures to uncover feelings, behaviors, changes, and other nuances within them.

  • Typically finds that they hold different perspectives than others - or - notices that others don't believe what they think is coming is possible.

  • Can easily understand someone else's perspective - but doesn't stop there - adding, probing, and evolving to help it grow into its fullest potential.

  • Enjoys collaborating in person and having open discussions about ideas and projects.

  • Knows when to use experimental tools appropriately alongside traditional story-telling tools

The ideal candidate should be able to both be an expert in crafting narratives, visuals, and concepts, while also a thought-partner in talking through the creative implications of the changing nature of society and people today.

Knowledge & Skills

  • General knowledge of machine learning, or Generative AI (LLMs, LVMs, LMMs)

  • Effective visual storyteller

  • Excitement for experimenting with emerging AI visualization tools

  • Background in visual communications

  • Proficient in color, composition, and visual language, related to imagery production

  • Proficient in Adobe Suite
