POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

This chemist will be responsible for developing and validating methods to support manufacturing and new products; for developing i nstrumentation or equipment set up, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, calibration, validation, writing and updating SOP’s.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the calibration and maintenance schedules for all lab equipment.

  • Support and evaluate IQ/OQ/PQ of all new lab instrumentation.

  • Assist on ICP-OES, FT-IR, and HPLC systems, the interpretation of data, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Assist on creating and reviewing analytical procedures and assisting other lab personnel in creation of methods.  

  • Help maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, observe safe lab practices under a cGMP protocol, and effectively evaluate and communicate experimental results.

    EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science or related field (preferable)

  • Work experience in a related field is also considered acceptable.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of chemical/physical principles, theories, and established methodologies sufficient to perform the full range of duties involved in analytical testing, method development and laboratory instrument troubleshooting.

  • Highly motivated, creative and independent performer with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

  • High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and communications skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Must be able to follow all safety guidelines.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee may be required to lift and/ or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Laboratory environment which may include long hours standing, sitting, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs, strong and/or unusual odors.

  • Due to the laboratory environment, there is a risk of chemical exposure while working in the lab. However, safety programs are implemented to mitigate these risks. Potential employees must be mindful of these potential hazards.
