St. George’s University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position (Role) in the (Department name) in the School of Medicine.

The Center for BioMedical Visualization at St. George’s University is looking for a full-time Medical Illustrator and Animator to join our team on the beautiful island of Grenada in the Caribbean. SGU has been the largest provider of doctors into first-year US residencies for the last 10 years, and our team’s primary mission is to support the education of the students enrolled in the School of Medicine. We create illustrations, animations, 3D models, and other supportive and engaging visual content to enhance the student learning experience. We also give supportive instruction in the anatomy wet lab and perform dissections. Based on the variety of duties, this position holds the distinction of faculty in the Department of Anatomical Sciences. The position is at the faculty rank of Demonstrator.

Your work will be diverse and in a variety of delivery methods and will have a direct impact on student learning.

Main Duties:

As part of the Center for BioMedical Visualization, you will support its mission to deliver medical illustrations and animations to the School of Medicine using a range of technical skills by creating:

• Lectures and other presentations in PowerPoint, including utilization of animation tools and master slides.

• Documents for print and online use including posters, brochures, and other projects that will utilize basic interactivity features using Adobe InDesign.

• 2D animations

• Raster and vector illustrations for various educational materials and publications.

Position requirements: 

• Minimum BS/BA/BFA or equivalent graduate degree in the sciences and/or the arts.  

• Recent graduates are welcome to apply. 

• Ability to process and distill down large and complex amounts of educational course content into cohesive and accurate learning materials.  

• A visual portfolio that demonstrates strong creative skills in a variety of techniques including illustration (digital and traditional), 2D animation, and graphic design.

• A high degree of proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) as well as with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically PowerPoint).

• An understanding of how to create 2D animations in After Effects utilizing basic features.

• Good graphic design skills, with experience in InDesign (experience with interactivity in InDesign preferred but not required).

• Basic 3D modeling experience in ZBrush and/or Cinema 4D is preferred but not required.

• A working understanding of biological sciences and human anatomy.

• Ability to work independently, but also with a team.  

• Ability to communicate effectively with collaborators during project development, offer

innovative ideas, work efficiently and meet project deadlines.  

• Bring new ideas and a high level of creativity to continue to improve the visual content we provide to faculty and students.  

• Teach in the anatomy wet lab to undergraduate students, as well as dissect (dissection experience is a plus).

• An interest in AR/VR technologies, interactivity, 3D printing and 3D scanning.
