This position is located at Water’s Edge in Roseville and has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.

As the Connected & Automated Vehicles (CAV) Policy & Planning Manager, provide leadership in policy development and planning for the CAV unit. This position leads the advancement of MnDOT’s strategic policy development and improves collaboration with stakeholder; serves as a member of the CAV leadership team; and represents the department at state and national transportation forums related to CAV and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies. The position also supports the statewide Interagency CAV team and Governor’s Council on CAV.

Occasional in-state travel to meetings is required. Occasional out-of-state travel is also required to attend regional and national conferences. Some travel may be overnight.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of managerial experience, three years of professional supervisory experience or four years of advanced professional experience in planning and/or policy development that demonstrates the following:

(*NOTE: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning, Policy or a closely related field substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience)

  • Experience developing and implementing plans and/or policies.

  • Experience leading and facilitating internal and external stakeholder groups.

  • Experience communicating complex policy issues to a variety of audiences in different formats such as presentations, reports, and educational materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of multi-modal transportation systems.

  • Knowledge of CAV and/or ITS policies, procedures, technology, and programs.

  • Experience supervising and/or leading professional level staff.
