Regions Hospital Safety and Security Supervisor in St. Paul, Minnesota
Regions Hospital has a full-time opportunity for a Supervisor of Safety & Security to join our team! The Supervisor of Safety & Security position is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees by consistently enforcing the policies of Regions Hospital and providing day to day direction, control and planning for the hospitals security programs. This includes security officers, life safety programs, emergency preparedness programs, hazardous materials programs, internal investigations related to legal issues; assists in managing the external regulatory requirements of Joint Commission. Job Duties: Provides counsel and direction to staff on a regular basis to provide work direction and assists with problem solving Coordinates internal investigations for criminal allegations and property claims when called upon Supervises staff to include hiring, coaching, educating, evaluating and disciplining Assists with maintaining an annual budget that supports the costs associated with staffing, training, maintenance of equipment and education, operate within the approved budget Works with internal customers to ensure that all safety & security needs are being met to their expectation Assists with performing annual reviews of all appropriate security related disaster plans for Regions Hospital and all clinics associated with Regions Hospital Assists in ensuring that all fire protection systems are inspected and tested in accordance with local, state and national fire and building codes and also in accordance with Joint Commission. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma Experience: Minimum of two years of Safety & Security, law enforcement or military deployment experience Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Possess a valid driver's license and maintenance of a clean driving record in accordance with Regions Hospital standards and policies International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic certification within 90 days of employment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Joint Commission standards Ability to manage personnel, strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to develop goals and direct departmental activities Knowledge of legal and civil standards and requirements within the state of Minnesota regarding security and general law enforcement Ability to respond to and if necessary physically intervene in a disruptive or dangerous situation in order to protect staff, patients and others from harm Ability to develop and maintain relationships with hospital departments and managers Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with agencies such as police, state and federal law enforcement agencies and public safety agencies Ability to problem-solve and make critical decisions quickly and effectively Preferred Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in public safety or related field preferred Experience: Safety & security experience in a healthcare setting preferred This position is eligible for benefits, which begin on day one of employment.
