Job Description Summary

Reporting to the R&D Leader of Real Time Controllers, the Micom program manager is leader & representative of the transmission product family, internally and outside the company.

Responsible for leading program management activities on Bay Protection and Control Units family product devices.

Responsibility spans the product life cycle, project planning, resource loading, and budget and cross functional execution, leading all areas of the product design, engineering thru successful execution and launch of product releases.

This role embraces accountability to drive technical road maps cross divisional with software, hardware, product validation and certification, in partnership with product management.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a sustain a world class development team to consistently deliver complex platforms and projects of varying size and duration.

  • Coach, mentor a diverse product development team through lean/agile development transformation.

  • Spearheads adoption of industry standards, within the company; and evangelizes Agile transformation and shared best practices and estimation techniques across teams at GE.

  • Manage the overall product release plan, including, projects/epics, and own the acceptance criteria for the release.

  • Provides expertise on the overall technical risk management and quality for the product and its application.

  • Utilise your expertise to develop, own, manage, and communicates product roadmaps, and work with product management and cross functional teams to drive strategic program planning with a 5+ year outlook.

  • Manages the technical dependencies, within product and cross business areas, such as industrialisation and quality.

  • Uses expertise and work with product owners and architects to set priorities and influences current and develop incremental multi generation plans aligning product, technology alignment and business vision.

  • Own and manage the multiple prototyping. product development budgets and maintain project data relating to budget tracking and financials.

  • Deliver resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities.

  • Provides expertise to proactively address potential defect areas in complex systems and ensures compatibility between sub-systems and dependent systems.

  • Initiate and lead product/service or architectural innovations and identifies critical design areas early in the development process.

  • Use Lean methodologies for process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities.

  • Ability for occasional travel (internationally) is required to visit with customers and vendors and teams in GE Vernova sites

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Masters or Engineer degree in Electronic, Electrotechnics.

  • Extensive and proven experience in project / program development of embedded systems, along with established leadership across the discipline and function.

  • Demonstrated expertise in product development preferably using Agile methodologies within embedded development.

Desirables:

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring experienced hardware developers, as well as collaborating with other Managers, Architects and Cross functional teams.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to encourage innovation, risk taking and creative thinking in others through performance coaching / mentoring / recognition.

  • Superior verbal, written and interpersonal skills including the ability to build solid relationships conduct negotiations and make presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with electronics compliance for EMC CE, UL, IEC, IEEE is highly desirable.

  • Exposure to Industrialization, Hardware, Firmware and Software architectures of PLC’s, protection & control relays and switches.
