Synchrony AVP, Platform Strategy - Lifestyle in Stamford, Connecticut

Job Description:

Roles Summary/Purpose:

Reporting to the SVP, Platform Strategy, the AVP, Platform Strategy - Lifestyle will support the development of long-term strategy and growth plans for Synchrony's Lifestyle Platform. As a member of the Platform Strategy team, this role will engage across the Business Strategy & Development (BS&D) function and play a role in support of M&A strategy, strategic partnerships and venture investments.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support BS&D and Lifestyle Platform Leadership to identify and assess growth opportunities for the Lifestyle Platform

  • Partner with BS&D and Lifestyle Platform leaders to continuously evolve the Lifestyle Platform's long-term strategy

  • Develop content to communicate strategy updates to Synchrony's Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other audiences

  • Monitor the competitive landscape and industry trends relevant to the Lifestyle Platform; research key developments and communicate implications to BS&D and Lifestyle Platform leaders

  • Collaborate with Lifestyle Platform Portfolio teams to deliver special projects such as emerging trend research, portfolio strategy updates, and partner workshops

  • Work with BS&D, Lifestyle, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate strategy recommendations into execution plans with associated business case

  • Partner with M&A, Ventures and other stakeholders to identify and evaluate acquisition / partnership opportunities relevant to the Lifestyle Platform

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and with 3+ years' experience in financial services, fintech, or payments; or in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma / GED and + years' experience in financial services, fintech, or payment

  • 1+ year experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, strategic planning or other business strategy related roles

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office product suite with advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated ability to lead problem solving for complex business issues and work with multiple stakeholders and viewpoints

  • Experience in developing data-driven perspectives and presenting insights to business leaders

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor Degree is preferred

  • Strategy consulting experience

  • Experience in Financial Services, specifically payments and consumer credit

  • Strong quantitative skills with experience creating data-driven recommendations

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional presentation skills and high emotional intelligence

  • Experience partnering cross functionally and influencing at all levels of the organization

  • Flexible, collaborative approach and positive attitude

  • Entrepreneurial mindset

  • Project management skills with ability to manage multiple programs through a team-based approach in a fast-paced environment

Grade/Level: 10

The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
