Our local non-profit client needs a manager to step in that can help with payroll and accounts payable. We are offering this 4-month payroll manager opportunity because our client's internal employee resigned abruptly. The selected payroll/AP manager will be expected to manage and oversee all aspects of payroll processing and accounts payable within the organization, while being very hands-on. This role will have a particular focus on timesheet processing, 401k - RRSP administration, Kronos Timekeeping System usage, accounts payable, and payroll management. This role is onsite in Palo Alto, CA two days/week and remote three days/week. Pay is up to $60/hr.

Responsibilities:

• Oversight and management of all payroll functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates

• Responsible for the administration of the 401k - RRSP, ensuring all contributions and distributions are accurately processed

• Utilize the About Time and Kronos Timekeeping Systems to manage employee time and attendance records

• Management of accounts payable, including the preparation and execution of check runs

• Conduct regular audits and reviews of payroll procedures to ensure compliance with both internal and external regulations

• Liaising with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits, etc.) over issues and concerns

• Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third party payments)

• Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems

• Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies

• Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits

• Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and Accounting teams.

Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management within the non-profit sector.

• Proficient in data processing and payroll management.

• Familiarity with 401k - RRSP Administration is necessary.

• Proficient in the use of About Time and Kronos Timekeeping System.

• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Check Runs.

• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in business relationships.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex payroll issues.

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
