Mission for Position The Benefits and Payroll Coordinator analyzes and administers employee benefit programs (health, retirement, pension, spending care accounts), serving as the primary resource for staff with benefits-related issues. Position Summary Strategic & Compliance Priorities Collaborates with the HR Director to complete the required Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, ERISA compliance and all other applicable reporting Acts as an internal consultant to all levels of the organization by analyzing, providing interpretation, and reviewing policies and procedures to provide recommendations to management and employees Partners with other members of the HR team to identify and implement business process, policy, and program improvements People Priorities Assists the HR Director with benefit plan administration including coordinating new employee and annual benefits open enrollment, preparing employee communication and trainings, processing monthly benefit invoices, managing the benefit tax setup, updating records, managing benefit carrier feeds, and communicating with benefit providers Administers all leaves of absence, disability claims, and unemployment functions Supports year-end testing and annual auditing communication for our 401(k) Operational Priorities Supports processing bi-weekly office payroll. This includes supporting setting up new employees/deductions/add-on codes/state taxes, timecard preparation, maintaining accurate records, and administering time-off accruals Manages 401(k) payroll deferrals and submit contribution files to our retirement plan provider Coordinates and verifies detail for annual payroll and tax reporting requirements Coordinates and stay apprised of state and federal payroll, benefits, disability, and leave laws and regulations nationwide Completes verification of employment requests Administrative support to HR functions, including record keeping and file maintenance Position Type Full-time, 32-hours per week (.8 FTE) This position requires on-site presence. Qualifications Qualifications Education & Knowledge Bachelor's degree in in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulation & compliance requirements Knowledge of current labor laws and regulations related to payroll & benefits SHRM-CP certification preferred Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll & benefits administration Demonstrated experience with payroll software (e.g., Paycom) and benefits management systems. Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll and benefits data. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the bility to prioritize tasks effectively.
