WorkSource Oregon Farm Equipment/Facilities Maintenance Trainee in STAYTON, Oregon

Our company produces young plants for the wholesale horticulture trade, primarily landscape tree and shrub liners. We also grow native Oregon wildflowers for seed, some cut branch plants, and contract for seed production. We specialize in bringing new ornamental trees and shrub varieties to market by working with patent holders and breeders so that our market selection is among the most exciting in the country for new woody plants. We employ about 100 full-time, have more than 300 acres of field production on 6 farm properties and 14 acres of protected production under plastic greenhouses. Job requires routine farm maintenance tasks with small and large farm machines, field spraying, electrical, gas, diesel engines; basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trouble shooting and maintenance, on the road driving and record keeping. Minimum Requirements: - Basic Mechanic skills (changing oil, tires, belts) - Minimum eighteen (18) years old - High school diploma or GED - Valid driver\'s license to operate company vehicles Preferred: - Farm mechanic experience - Construction experience - Agricultural experience - Spray applicator license or experience - Maintenance experience (hand tools, welder, basic electrical, small motor) - Class A CDL, farm endorsement and medical D.O.T Employer Notes: - About 50% of the work will be hands-on mechanic work, 40% operating equipment and farm work duties such as spraying and 5-10% logistics planning - Employer conducts a drug test and DMV records check prior to first day of employment - Qualified applicants will be safety oriented and demonstrate independent problem solving skills, judgement, and ability to remain on task with only basic supervision - Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm Job duties: - Equipment maintenance (preventive and repair) - Tractor driving (trainable skid-steer, excavator) - Forklift operation - Field spraying - Logistics planning (arrange and coordinate the movement of tractors in between work sites) - Commitment to company goals - Any other duties as assigned Language skill requirement or preference: Able to speak Spanish preferred. Able to read Spanish preferred. Able to write Spanish preferred. The vast majority of our employees speak Spanish, including the operators of equipment that will be serviced. The ability to speak Spanish will make the job easier, however translation is available.
