Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialised Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.
Over 300 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.
Description & Scope:
SLB has various tools for specific applications and are used within the energy industry. All these tools have various printed circuit board assemblies (PWA) used to accomplish a certain functionality.
The combined electronics assembly represents an electronics module with a tool. To test the individual printed circuit board assemblies that are manufactured at our contract manufacturer we need to develop the test hardware and test software specific to each printed circuit board assemblies (PWA). Considering 1000's of these PWA's to be manufactured correctly we develop an automated test to save time and cost along with safety.
The scope of the project is to understand the functionality of the specific PWA and develop the test hardware and the test software using TestStand.
Deliverables:
The responsibilities of the intern would be to:
Provide input for the test hardware and coordinate with appropriate team to manufacture the test setup.
Understand the functionality of the PWA and design the test software on TestStand and validate the tests.
Gain exposure to electro-mechanical test hardware and the design of PWA.
Gain experience in TestStand and have develop understanding of generic equipment such as power supplies, function generator, oscilloscope and many more.
Qualifications and Experience:
Studying for a Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering (or related)
Software coding (C, TestStand)
Schematic Analysis (Electronics Design)
