Stony Brook University Postdoctoral Associate in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field in hand by March 2025.Preferred Qualifications:
Training in radiotracer synthesis, PET imaging, organic synthesis, data analysis and pharmacokinetics and biodistribution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in collaborative and multidisciplinary research at the interface of chemistry and biology.Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Chemistry. The Postdoctoral Associate will lead and contribute to projects focused on evaluating the role of drug-target kinetics in drug activity in the Center for Advanced Study of Drug Action.

The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. Potential roles include one or more of the following (i) the design and synthesis of compounds with altered binding kinetic profiles, (ii) the use of biochemical or biophysical assays to measure binding kinetics with purified target and in cells, (iii) the development and evaluation of mathematical models that integrate binding kinetics into the prediction of drug activity, (iv) the use of biochemical, cellular, and/or in vivo models to assess the role of time-dependent drug-target interactions in drug activity, (v) the use of PET imaging to quantify in vivo target occupancy. Incumbent should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to:

Preparation of grant proposals and publications.

Synthesis of compounds with altered binding kinetic profiles, or determination of binding kinetics with purified target and in cells, or the development and evaluation of PK/PD models or the development and use of assays to assess the role of time-dependent drug-target interactions in drug activity or the use of PET imaging to quantify in vivo target occupancy.

Grant and publication writing Lead group meetings and discussions

Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
