The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook Postdoctoral Associate in Stony Brook, New York

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong background in semiconductor photonic device nanofabrication and characterization. Experience with experimental investigation and realization of advanced quantum photonic devices, based on epitaxial quantum dots or similar structures. Experience in photonic and/or semiconductor device simulation.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist a Principal Investigator Leon Shterengas in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The incumbent will conduct research on semiconductor photonic device nanofabrication and characterization, and experimental investigation and realization of advanced quantum photonic devices, based on epitaxial quantum dots or similar structures.

The successful candidate will gain experience in proposal writing as well as mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

The postdoc is responsible for:

Design and development of the new class of on-demand single-photon sources operating in the near-infrared region of spectrum.

Building advanced optical setups for single-photon emitter characterization.

Building advanced optical setups for quantum ghost imaging.

Participation in writing journal and conference papers.

Assistance in writing research proposals.

Mentoring PhD students.

* Other duties as assigned.
