Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
High School diploma/GED (foreign equivalent or higher). One year of full-time experience in a laboratory environment related to basic molecular biology such as PCR, molecular cloning etc. Working knowledge of Basic Molecular biology laboratory procedures. Experience working with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipment relative to the field of molecular biology.Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or chemistry. Brief Description of Duties:
Working under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of routine and/or semi-skilled tasks to support and directly assist a research project or program for Dr. Jyoti Misra in the Department of Pharmacology, either in the laboratory or in the field. Therefore, the selected applicant will need to have a working knowledge of basic molecular biology or techniques relative to the field as well as familiarity with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipment relative to the field. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Duties:

  • Maintain bacterial and Drosophila stocks.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and equipment to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with environmental health and safety procedures by assembling, preparing, and dispensing.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
